WHAT EACH Medal/Assessment LEVEL WILL DO FOR YOU

Bronze Program – This level is a complete social dancing program.

Bronze I (Level 1): You learn the fundamental patterns and are introduced to styling, while you develop to perfect your footwork.

In addition, you will acquire enough variety to keep your learning experience interesting.

Emphasis is placed on three important elements of dancing:

  1. Foot and Body position
  2. Rhythm and Timing
  3. Leading or Following

The styling and the character of dances are introduced, with attention to technique and footwork for a more enhanced lead and follow.

At this level, dancers begin to develop reflex memory for more elaborate patterning and a keener sense of music recognition for which dance will fit with the music being played.

Toward the end of this Level, you should start to develop reflex memory for the basic patterns and rhythms in the dances; begin to recognize the music styles for some of the dances and commence to develop your leading and following skills; thereby allowing you to feel comfortable and capable on the dance floor.

Bronze 2 (Level 2): Things start to get a little more advanced as you start to develop timing and techniques in all the dances and style selected.

This Level starts to develop freer movement around the dance floor, with the introduction of smoother movements and rotation providing a more advanced look and feel.

Smooth movements, seamless blending of patterns and ability to demonstrate the character of a dance results in a truly enhanced dance experience for both partners.

The styling developed allows you to look and feel comfortable on the dance floor and strengthens your lead and/or following, regardless of your dance partners experience, the music being played or, the type of dance floor.

These dancers have all the confidence anyone would need on the floor because they have reached the ‘fun point’ in dancing, and new dances become easier to learn; as they are just an extension of the skill set you have already developed.

Silver Program – This is a dance level with a high degree of styling, elaborate movements and a standard of dancing that truly stands out.

The more developed understanding of Lead and Follow, added styling with timing changes, intricate movements and added layers of techniques for movement, showcase an advanced look and feel.

The Silver dancer will stand out, have more style and look more accomplished on the dance floor with continuity and fluidity of movement allowing a couple to glide across the dance floor with many natural directional changes.

Styling, technique, balance and control are a focus in this level; with the level broken down into two smaller sections for easier learning: Silver 1 (Level 3); Silver 2 (Level 4).

Gold Program (Level 5) – This standard of proficiency is for the dancer interested in performance, exhibition or competitions and takes everything to a new level.

You will not typically see this level danced on the social dance floor, since both partners must be advanced dancers in order to competently execute the more intricate patterns.

Choreography, styling, technique and showmanship are a requirement at this level, which therefore requires dedication and many hours of lessons and practice time to progress.

The advanced styling techniques build on the developing timing interpretations and intricacies of the previous levels, while the professional look and partnering skills emphasise the technique and high-level patterning necessary to showcase the standard.
